Do you ever get engrossed in something, a task, a school paper, a book, facebook, a Chuck Norris story on yahoo.com?

I do!

Sometimes I realize 30 minutes have passed, but 29 minutes before I  intended to already be taking a run to the park.

But I get fixated. I get gripped. It could be with something
inconsequential, or even silly like these top MSN.com headlines today:
Things You Need To Do Before You Die
Are Twins Taking Over The Nation?
What To Do If Your Car Tire Blows Out
How To Handle The Office Busybody

After you read my blog, peruse these interesting columns (guaranteed to get you fixated), but don’t read till after my blog, please! 🙂

Well, this morning I got fixated.
You see, I got an email about my upcoming trip to Cambodia, how my boss is reading this book:
About a little Cambodian girl sold into sexual slavery, now helping rescue others.

Described as “Riveting, raw, a beautiful memoir of tragedy and hope”

I ordered it to read.

Ordering it then led me to this website, and the author’s website. DON’T GO YET though, keep reading my blog!

Then I read this touching personal blog from Kacie Price: THE BREATH OF LIFE

I’ll see her in 8 days, to debrief her time spent  in the Thailand red-light district rescuing girls.

Reading Kacie’s blog brought things so much closer to home.

This issue isn’t just a ‘Fox News Update’ watching Somaly Mam recount her stories.
I know personal stories. I have met these women. But mostly, I know American young adults who are actually in Thailand and Cambodia reaching out to these girls and ladies. They’re there right now! Today! And will be there tomorrow, and the next day, and the next!

Because when you ‘know’ someone, or you have experienced the ‘News Update’ personally, you get fixated, but in a lot deeper and personal way. The human/sex slavery trafficking issue has gripped me ever since I walked the soil of those lands this year and last.

So I’m going in a week to help them, to help them process their hearts : the pain, anger, sadness, victories.
One of my giftings is pastoral. So that’s what I can give.
I’m gripped.

To help the 10 AIM Cambodia missionary ladies continue and strengthen their ministry.
To help T Squad debrief their intense experiences and march on, 3 more months left of ministry.

It’s a privilege to give what I can to help bring more of God’s kingdom to this earth, healing into people’s broken hearts.

Will you help me?

In prayer and financial support in my life of ministry?

Okay, so now you can click away, peruse any links, stories, or things mentioned above. Have fun 🙂

(Some extra concluding thoughts)

I know it’s hard to know how you can make a difference,
to know how to even start. I am still challenged to know how to act
when faced with problems outside of myself, even problems within myself.
But I know I can. I know you can. Make a difference. One step, one day, one life, at a time.

What grips you?   You have it in you to have an impact.

Promises we hold on to in faith:

“He will call upon me and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him”

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty”
“The Lord is robed in majesty and is armed with strength”

“O God, you are mighty to save!”
