Lord correct my error, guide my heart, and soften the hearts of those who will read this, that they might better understand you.
I apologize for any typos..
“God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.” 1Peter 5;5-6
Preface: I think there are many facets of pride in which I do not know, and am unable to understand, but this method of thinking seems to prove true according to my experience, and I hope it benefits you as well.
So what is pride?
Well, if pride is a self seeking insertion of ourselves into the world, then humility is our recession in order to afford a savior whose perpetual characteristics overpower the faint and fleeting qualities of our own.
How often throughout our days, do we attempt to insert ourselves into the lives of others? Through our boasting we pretend that we are more than dust. We attempt to persuade others to believe they should be as we are. We cry out for attention, and lift our voices for the meek to hear, but only to provide false hope.
Pride is a misinformation of who you are, and what you were purposed for. It’s the expression of a quality that will not remain when the true King speaks over His kingdom, and a temporal competition to win a race where everyone loses at the starting line.
We see it manifested in many different ways, but most obviously in the things that we watch, and the pictures that we scroll through. Through misguided validation, we turn to further misvalue one another, and encourage others to pursue traits that flee as fast as the days fade.
It’s as if we don’t believe we are valuable in God’s eyes, Yet the irony lies in the fact that his eyes are the only eyes that even have the authority to declare value in the first place.
We should look to his mercy, and realize its magnitude, rather than the illusion of our own.
Do you want to see a perfect example of humility? Look to Jesus.
“Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross” – Phillipians 2:6-8
Don’t let those words leave you unstirred. Jesus died for his purpose, but so many of us would trade in our gifts and callings for stable jobs and attractive spouses. Jesus’ humility was rooted in his identity, and knowledge of it. His confidence in what he was destined for, and his understanding of value. Jesus knew his identity… Son of God. He knew his purpose… to save all mankind from the wages of sin, and he knew what was valuable… us. His actions did not waiver according to his call.
So I encourage you also, to learn and remember your identity in Christ daily. The Lord has invited you cheerfully to more than you could ever acquire for yourself. Don’t go on pursuing the passions of the flesh, but turn and repent to God, and he will forgive you. How could he keep all of his promises, except one of them that glorifies him most? His mercy is unending. It extends from east to west.
Thats all, Thanks for reading my blog! If you were unaware, i’m still fundraising for a life in missions and ministry. The general nature of my ministry in this season is unpaid, and requires me to fundraise so that I can continue on! I know that the Lord has called me here, and he will provide according to his plan. I can only ask that you pray, and ask the Lord if this is something he wants you to partner with me on.
Please reach out to me if you have any questions. Although i’m very busy here, I will always do my best to connect with you.
