My team, Adonai Amor, was the second missionary team that Pueblo Nuevo, Nicaragua ever saw. A small town, just under the Honduras boarder, is still in the process of opening up to Christianity. Our ministry objective- Bring hope to the town of Pueblo Nuevo.
Our hosts, Moises and Ruth, are a pastor couple of a rising church. They are some of the most God filled people I have ever met in my entire life. They’re both in their twenties, and have an incredible past. They have a daughter Shalomie, who’s the cutest little girl ever, a little sassy and so much like my little sister, Charlee. Moises and Ruth are so God filled, they offered us their family refrigerator and washing machine, so that we could have cold drinks and clean clothes. We didn’t want to take that from them, and cold drinks aren’t important enough to take their fridge, so we declined. But unlike America, Nicaraguans’ don’t offer things to be polite, they give things away because they want to, to the extent that it’s considered rude to decline offerings like those. We found that out later.
Pueblo Nuevo is a small town of only 4,000. Most people know each other, and any news is big news. A team of missionaries coming in to work on the town is pretty big news. In Costa Rica we were on a farm in the middle of nowhere, which made it difficult to connect with the community, since our community was cattle and monkeys. But we were so invested into Pueblo Nuevo that we knew a decent portion of our community by name, making it much, much harder to say goodbye to.
Someday, I’ll revisit Pueblo Nuevo, maybe on a solo venture, maybe with my family. But I’ll never forget the time and energy spent here.
Miss you forever. Noah.
