So it’s been a whole week out here in Malaysia. I still have moments of awe, realizing where I am, and what I am doing and what I will be doing for the next 10 months.

I’ve started to work at a sort of homeless shelter in that last week, we feed them, clothe them, wash them, and most of all just build relationship with them. It’s just the first week so I am just beginning to get to know people but I can’t wait to grow those relationships more, and I've already started to get to know a few people well.

The place we are staying blows my mind in so many ways. 5 times a day we are surrounded with the sound of the Muslims call to prayer. We are literally surrounded by strongholds of the devil.
Watch the video it shows you more.

My teammate Veronica made a statement today that really gave me an interesting perspective as I listen to those calls to prayer. She made the point that when it comes to our religion Americans are very quiet. It’s ironic when you think about it. Americans are known for being loud and obnoxious but when it comes to our beliefs, I think, especially as Christians.

Out here religion is in your face. Your senses are filled with reminders of religion all around. The smell of incense from temples on every block, the sight of colors from temples across the road, the sound of the Muslim prayer calls. Malaysian’s don’t seem to be quite about their faith. What about you? When you interact with others are they filled with the sights of Christ? Can they smell His breath on you? Can they hear His words from your mouth?
