After 5 months in Asia seeing temple after temple, idol after idol something finally struck me. They worship these ‘gods’ that I see for sale in other parts of the market. They pray to ‘gods’ that they lock up at night for fear that someone will steal them in the night. They put their ‘gods’ behind glass to keep it from the wear and tear of the elements. It breaks my heart. The evil one has blinded them from realizing that they aren’t simply serving their ‘gods’ they are taking care of them. They are babysitting them, protecting them. Their ‘gods’ aren’t self sufficient, their gods are dependant upon them, they are not dependant upon them.
Nothing else so plainly highlights the greatness of our G-d. He doesn’t need our protection, we couldn’t keep him in a cage like their ‘gods’. He is beyond containment, no matter how great our technology becomes we won’t contain his power, his knowledge, his greatness, his riches. We can’t sell Him in our local market, He can’t be bought, instead He demands a price from us. We cannot display Him but He displays Himself in the endless beauty of the universe, which we have still yet to discover the ends of. He doesn’t need us but He demands our submission and holds the power to bring us to it. My God is a glorious king! It reminds me of a youtube video I once watched check it out!
