Well I know I have been kinda slacking this month as far as blogging. If I remember right this is only my second or third blog and this month is already closely approaching its end. I wish I could say that it’s been because my internet has been impossible to find, but the truth is I can find it if I need it (though it’s much harder to find then it was in Malaysia). Honestly its been that I just don’t know what to write. This month has been so much more challenging spiritually than last month. We’ve had a few hospital visits mostly for rashes and a sprained ankle, but overally the culture of the area we are trying to reach out to is just spiritually draining. The moments when I could have poured into writing I’ve felt the need to recharge and refuel rather then share what is going on out here.
I’ve found a few young men that I am trying to encourage into the leadership that they have here. Mel and Henry are big stand outs in that area. Mel is a friendly yet shy leader among the boys at baggot, you have to tune in close to here him as he mumbles his words. But that’s a large step from what it once was. Mel couldn’t talk at all till he was 18, he couldn’t write either. He was angry and full of rage that left results beyond what most of us can imagine. But then G-d grabbed hold of Mel, took away his rage, and replaced it with love and quiet soft, heartfelt words. He is a leader, and he is beginning to see that himself. He lead worship at church for what I think was the first time last week and he has given his testimony at most of the events we have done the last two weeks, though you still have to prick your ears to hear him even when he has the mic.
Henry is a sort of newcomer to the area. He is half aboriginal half white, and though he is from Melborne he felt as though G-d wanted him to come to Baggot, practically on the other side of the country.Henry loves the Lord and loves teaching others about him. He has faith in G-d’s healing, and prays for healing and for G-ds power to show itself wherever he goes. He’s also a bit of an armature rapper for the Lord. His past is dark and connected to drugs but when G-d got a hold of his heart He literally showed Henry the Hell he could have been in had he continued down that route. That memory of Hell fuels him into sharing the word with whoever he can, and although he looks more like a you and me then the aboriginals in Baggot he relates to them almost immediately.
I can see G-d is going to use these men of G-d as he continues to bring light to Baggot. You can already see the influence of the many strong believing Christians here. G-d is changing this area, He is doing a work here. Pray for more.
