My squad mate, Morgan, challenged us all this week by drawing names randomly & asking us to write a blog about a fellow squad mate. I thought this was super great because it pushed us all to get to know someone that we maybe haven’t gotten to know super well. The squad mate that I was assigned is none other than (drum roll please)….

Kyle Chapman!

I was honestly so excited that I got Kyle for this challenge because

A- We don’t chat one on one super often, although I’m not sure why because this guy is seriously a hoot and a half.

B- We have something pretty rad in common…we were both supposed to go on the race last year!

I came up with a list of questions for him to better get to know where he is at after this year at home & I’m super excited to share them with you, so here we go!

What is your middle name (just cause I’m curious!)

Jamison

In what ways do you feel like you’ve grown since training camp last year?

I have seen myself change in a few ways, one in just general maturity… my interest in diving into the word has grown exponentially & I want to do it a lot more now. Also, although I’ve always been a very personable person I used to struggle with being confident in myself around those my age but not anymore.

What is something that you’re looking foreword to on the race?

Gaining a second family that I will have for the rest of my life.

Favorite color?

Forest green or dark olive.

What country are you most excited for & why?

Romania! I’ve always wanted to go since I was young.

Favorite food?

New York style pizza.

What is something that the Lord has been speaking over you?

“As hard as it was leaving last year & all of the things that it caused me to go through, going this year is the best thing for me…even better than if I were to go last year.”

Favorite place?

North Carolina!

What is an area that you would like to see personal growth in this year?

Seeing my work ethic improve when doing things that I don’t necessarily want to do.

What is one quality/gift/trait that the Lord has given you that you are excited to use/ contribute to the squad on the race?

I have and always will be a person you can talk to, and I have a lot of qualities of the “dad” of the squad.

What is a mistake you’ve made in your life that was/is hard to forgive yourself for and how has God met you there?

During my freshman year in high school, my hormones were going nuts and I used to tell my mom that I hated her. I didn’t know why, but it broke my family apart… arguments broke out all the time and then I met my birth mom for the first time and stayed a few days at her place with my two brothers who I love to death. It gave me closure & although it took a while eventually me and my moms relationship started to blossom again. Now I couldn’t be happier! I love my mom more than anyone in the world right now.

How can my supporters be praying for you?

Pray for me to not loose my love to dive into the word, because when I do the Lord shows me things that I never knew that solidify my faith just that much more it makes my day.

My favorite trait that I’ve noticed in Kyle is his vulnerability & willingness to share his heart with you. I’ve found that this makes him such an inviting person, and I’m super excited to see how the Lord will use that trait in him within our squad and also with others that he will meet on the race!

I hope you all enjoyed this little blog about my awesome fellow squad made! His blog for the race is: www.kylechapman.theworldrace.org & you should definitely follow along so that you can read more of what is on his heart throughout the race!

Thanks for reading!

Blessings,

Nikki
