Hello sweet friends, family, & strangers!

I know that it has been way too long since I’ve written one of these things, but we don’t get wifi often & I really wanted to soak in these first few weeks.

Days here in Guatemala are filled with sweetness & promise. They’re long days for sure, but I really wouldn’t have it any other way. At training camp back in July my squad prayed & prophesied over each country on our route, & it has been fun looking back at our prayers & being reminded of God’s promise for this place. He was already working in Guatemala long before we got here, we just have the honor of being a small part of it:)

Here is what a typical week here looks like for me, every day is different & that in itself has been amazing.

Monday:

6/6:30:  We don’t have allotted times for devos here like we did in Romania, so I usually wake up around this time to get ready & spend time with God before I start my day!

7: Breakfast! We also don’t have to cook for ourselves like we did in Romania…we have two amazing women that do it for us:) They take good care of us & treat us by making a lot of traditional Guatemalan food, but also making things that remind us of home. My favorite meals far has been empanadas!

10-3: My team & I hop on a bus to the next town over, Parramos, & spend the day there helping out at an old folks home. Our time there usually looks like serving them lunch, having conversation, & doing activities with them like bingo, arts & crafts, or exercise.

5:30: Supper!

8/8:30: Squad worship

Tuesday:

6/6:30: get ready/devo time

7: Breakfast

8: Deep dive with Kevin! Kevin is one of our base elders & every Tuesday/friday we have a little bible study with him before we go to ministry! Right now we are in Luke 4!

9: my team & I get driven by our field mentor, Mae, to the next town over where we then catch a bus to the village of Panimaquin! We usually get there around 10.

10-4: we spend the day up in Panimaquin, which is literally above the clouds, & work there with our hosts! We spend the morning in prayer & then we usually do a service project in the community or help them set up for childrens ministry in the afternoon. We eat lunch, do our team time for the day if we have enough time & by 2 the kids arrive. Every day here looks a little different, but this is a rough outline of our day here!

5:30: Supper!

Wednesday:

6/6:30: get ready/devo time

7: Breakfast

9/10-1/2: We catch a bus into Parramos & help out at our host’s church with whatever they need done. We also will have house visits in the community sometimes!

3: blogging team time/lesson plan for kids ministry

5:30: Supper!

6:45-8:45: Our host picks us up from the base & we head back to their church & while the adults are in service, we have our own service for the kids!

Thursday:

6/6:30: get ready/devo time

7: Breakfast

9: worship & teaching from one of the staff members

11/11:30: debrief teaching as teams with a staff member

12-2: eat lunch & head out for ATL time! ATL (ask the Lord) days look like us heading into Parramos & putting to work the lesson that we were taught that morning. We ask the Lord who to talk to/where to go & then we are able to speak life over the community

4: feedback team time!

5:30: Supper!

Friday:

Our schedule for Fridays looks exactly like our schedule for Tuesdays!

Saturday/Sunday:

Sabbath & adventure day!

I hope you all enjoyed a little look into my days here in Guate! If you have any questions about anything please feel free to comment or email me!

With love,

Nikki
