Hello out there in tv land!
It’s always interesting to try to start explaining who you are and where you come from. I’ll start with the basics. Born and raised in Cottage Grove, Minnesota. My parents still live in the house I grew up in, so when I go home, I really get to go home! I have one sister and one niece who I completely adore (and, being the only aunt, I get to also be the favorite aunt!). I currently live in Cincinnati, OH and have been here for about 7 years.
I grew up in the church and always considered myself spiritual, but it was a conditional spirituality (i.e. as long as it served MY purpose, I was willing to go along with it). In the last 3 years or so, I have been running, full throttle toward Christ. It has been an amazing experience that has grown my faith, my heart and my spirit in ways I never could have imagined. To have a relationship with God, to know that He’s got my back and going to be my path…I couldn’t have dreamed of anything more amazing!
About a month ago, I heard God tell me to take some time to “re-grow-up”. Completely mystified by what that could possibly mean, I had a few conversations with Him (and some of my community) and came up with just have freaking fun! So, for two weeks, that’s exactly what I did. It ended with a superfun Disney World Extravaganza (which was technically for my niece’s 5th birthday, but still…). The day after I got back, I heard about the World Race. It was like God was standing next to me, giving me a shoulder nudge saying, ‘see…I had something waiting for you that will blow your mind!!!’
You see, I have always loved travel. I was a flight attendant for 6 1/2 years and would go whenever I could. I also went on my first mission trip to Mumbai, India last February to work with survivors of human trafficking and fell in love the girls, and India. And, that the Lord wants me back in that place is an amazing, beautiful thing.
Random info about me: I fully appreciate the art of the self-portrait and have taught it to my niece. It is better than any toy, coloring book or gadget I have to amuse her. (Thank goodness for digital pictures!) I always seem to be in transition…some part of me is always in flux (and i don’t mean the capacitor). I randomly make movie and tv references and can usually remember where I’ve seen someone before. I love easily, crave connection and am learning what that really means. In the car, in India (and sometimes in the shower), I rock the house. Multiple people have told me that I am joy and I happen to adore that 🙂 I also over-use emoticons and exclamation points but will not stop as I believe that correctly reflects the type of person I am. I laugh loudly and often. Hugs are like air to me. Only recently have I realized that it’s okay to ask for help…and to count on people to come through for you. Good food, good conversation, good books, good music and a good workout will always capture my attention. My friend’s Minnesota/Jamacian accent will always make me laugh and the louder he says it, the longer I laugh. I left pieces of my heart all over India with the girls we worked with who were rescued and cannot wait to go back and scatter more to them.
Its easy enough to describe myself but to say who I am? That’s even easier…I am a Christ follower completely committed to doing His will. Ta dah!!!
