Things are different but I don’t know how to put my finger on it. Upon my return home, back to the states, everything looks the same, but feels different. It must be me. I’m different. I went on this epic, life-changing adventure with Jesus and he has changed me. There is no going back to my old self, but I’m still trying to figure out who my new self is.
I am without a doubt glad I went on the World Race. Most people have said to me, “Nikki, you are the perfect person to do something like this. I could never do something like that.” But YES you can. I am no different from anyone else. All I did was say YES to God’s calling. There is nothing special about me besides the fact that I am letting God lead me and direct my path. That’s all you have to do. Easier said than done, right?
Trust me, it’s not easy to say Yes. I knew God was calling me on the race, but I made up excuses like it’s too long. I’ve never been away from home that long. I can’t live out of a backpack. I can’t quit my job and pack up and leave.
But YES I can and I did and I do not regret it!
By leaving everything behind, I gained so much more.
I gained a relationship with Jesus that has never been the same. I have gained more knowledge of my Heavenly Father. I have gained more joy and Holy Spirit laughter and shakes. I have gained an appreciation for other cultures. I have gained a new perspective and appreciation for all that I have in the states. I have gained a heart for the broken and the fatherless. I have gained an intimacy with God that will continue to grow.
All I can do is thank Jesus for the year I had!
As I continue to process and reflect what God has brought me through and what He has taught me, the more ready and more equipped I will be for what He has for me in the next season. People ask me, “What’s next?” And to answer that question I have to say I don’t know. God knows and he will guide me where I am to go and open the doors that he wants to open for me. As for now I sit, reflect, and wait until he tells me to GO again.
Is God telling you to do something you are making excuses to do? Is He telling you take a leap of faith? Is He telling you to GO?
Say Yes!
Take that leap! He will catch you.
GO!
YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!
