Part of the ministry here at New Life, is doing a feeding program, where they provide lunch for all the kids. Our ministry coordinator here, Bonnie, has gotten her church (Faith Alive in York, Pennsylvania) to partner with Casa Matteo with a program called ‘Kids feeding Kids’, where the kids from here church all raise money to send down here to feed these kids. Each Sunday, after Children’s church is over, all the kids sit around the main room, where a bowl full of various popular Nicaraguan meals are passed out to them. To these kids, it’s a feast.

I realize that I don’t know the specific story of each child, but I’ve heard some of theirs. A majority of these kids live in the poorest conditions, where some of them don’t get fed at every meal. The food that we give them may be the only nutritious thing they eat that day, maybe for even days.
Seeing the kid’s faces as we pass out the food just warms my heart. For these kids, even if it’s just for that one time each week, this food provides them with so much more than we could ever comprehend. I know it doesn’t sound like much, but the truth is, it’s so much more than just a meal.
It offers them a sense of security.
Its gives them a peace of mind.
It makes them smile.
And above all else…
IT SHOWS THEM LOVE.
