Winget Farm is one of those places that when you step foot or drive your wheels on its driveways; you know something good is here. When you enter the drive you’re welcomed by it’s split-rail fence that seem to run for miles. The first tree you come to hangs over the drive just enough to give shade from the warm sun trying to burst through. Sky perks her ears up and sometimes her head to acknowledge you’re home. Many times you find her running around chasing something or barking at the horses. As you continue down the drive you will find the open hay field awaiting some manure and its next cut. Oh and lets not forget the old milk barn that still tells us stories of its past. Now it stands as a safe haven for creatures that we probably don’t want to be around and also many tools and what-nots used for various things. Approaching the barn paddock and the big house youd want to approach with caution as you might find Scout wandering about. A couple horses may greet you at the fence; Wahoo or Gusto or Tres or maybe Bravo or Bonus if you’re lucky! Continue down the drive to find the guest house. Here you’ll most likely be greated by Sally. Go ahead, pick her up! She loves a scrach but being held is not something she’s good at. Tucker comes down often as well. Tucker is a hefty orange and white cat often defending Sally from strays or any intruders really.
As you walk to the door don’t forget to look out over the pond and take in what you see. Really take it in. Cowboy boots greet you at the door. Walking in you should take a deep breath. There is certainly a smell that is the Roost (guest house). The openess of the house allows you to be comfortable. It makes you want to have tons of sleep overs and cook for many. You can’t help but want to pour out and bless others. Through the windows you see the woods and every now and then you see/hear Sam driving his rock crawler back there. As the sun goes down you may get a phone call inviting you into the big house for dinner. So you accept of course and find tons of food to fill your belly and the night turns into fellowship. Heck yes, after dinner you want to go into the living room to sit by the fire and watch episode after episode of law and order. You might ask ‘why?’…well its been so good you don’t want it to end. Scout may want to curl up in your lap, please be nice to the guy! So you walk back over to the Roost, full and ready for bed. You lay there thinking about what you’ve just experianced…you may think ‘wow, thats community.’
My first encounters with the farm was as such. Being apart of the body and being blessed while blessing. This place is holy ground. You can’t enter onto it and not be changed. Here you are free to just be. I see God’s hand all over this place and all over the people that encounter it. So i pray you too have a place such as this. A place you can’t help but be changed. You can’t help but be pushed into the way of the Father.
