Awesome:
1. Causing awe or terror; inspiring wonder or excitement.
2. The oldest meaning of “awesome” is “something which inspires awe”, but the word is also a common slang expression in English, originally from America. As the original meaning of awesome has become somewhat antiquated in general use, the term awe-inspiring is now generally used for the same meaning.
A question was posted on my Facebook wall the other day…
“Why are you so awesome?”
Last night I preached from Ephesians 1. Paul tells us of our new family we enter into when we have accepted Christ. Paul writes that we are CHOSEN, ADOPTED, DESTINED TO A PURPOSE, HAVE INHERITANCE, GRACE IS LAVISHED, PROMISED, MARKED WITH A SEAL, GOD’S OWN PEOPLE. I think that makes me pretty awesome.
I realized last night as I was preaching on this that I actually believe this for myself. I dont think I had until last night. I am great because my Father is great. If I am adopted into his family then that makes me great and I have rights to what he has. I have things to say…great things to say because they are my Father’s words and not my own. I have great things to do because my Father is asking me to do those great things. It’s all from Him which makes it so great. I now realize I desire what my Father desires for me and for His people. Greatness…awesomeness.
In a lot of ways I hope I inspire people toward greatness; I know that is NOTHING inside of me alone…It is Jesus. My hope is that you don’t see arrogance but you see a God who makes his people great. These words Paul writes is for US ALL. Ephesians 1:11 says:
“In Christ WE have also obtained an inheritance, having been destined according to the purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to his counsel and will…”
So from this point on, may you walk in confidence that YOU ARE AWESOME! It’s not arrogant because you don’t do anything to make yourself awesome…IT IS JESUS ALL THE WAY.

“For by GRACE you have been saved through faith, and this IS NOT YOUR OWN DOING; it is the GIFT of God–not the result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life.” (Eph. 2:8-10)
So Tiffany Berkowitz this is why I’m awesome…
This is why you are awesome…
This is why we all are awesome…
