I’ve been challenged by a quote this week. I first heard it from one of my squad leaders from the the world race, Andrew Bennett. This week I realized how important that quote is to me and to this team.
“If you want something you’ve never had, You have to do something you’ve never done”
This week I’ve been shown the importance of the body of Christ and not just the ones I’m comfortable with or I feel safe with. Leadership is often lonely. I’ve experianced myself already and I think mostly because I’m the oldest and I’m just at a differant place in life than most of my team. This week I realized just how much that is ok. I told myself that I don’t want to be lonely or distant with my thoughts; as much as I can anyways. Everyday I’m so blessed and encouraged by the women and men on this team. They always are building me up. I have to make efforts to intentionally talk about my thoughts which is often difficult for me. I think mostly because I process in my head. So I’ve found myself having to do things I’ve never done. In order to lead the team I have to be willing to go where I’m asking them to go; literally, emotionally, and spiritually.
It’s almost time for us to leave the second village, have a 2 day break and head north to our final tribe. I know God is going to bring challenges to sharpen us. I know He is going to be faithful to take care of us and our family as we are away. I also know some fun is going to happen!! Africa is full of adventure and though it’s tough at times it’s so worth it.
In all this I know this season is where I’m called to be. I need your prayers and your money ( if you feel so lead!). In order to finish out my trip with the team; I’m still in need of some support money. To be exact I need ONLY 780 dollars! Over the next few days and weeks, I’d love for you to possibly do something you’ve never done before…Give money. I’d love for you to stand with me in prayer as I believe God is going to give enough. He does love to bless his kids! So please go to my home page; click ‘support me’ tab. There you’ll find direction to give online by credit card or there is an address to mail checks! If you don’t want to give, tell a friend…you never who will give!!
Thanks!!!
There are more stories to come. The team is awesome; learning to be men and women. We are already not who were a month ago!
