So what am I talking about?? In two words….COSTA RICA! This is officially happening. It’s been in the words for awhile but now it can come out of the bag. Yes, I am going to Africa for the summer and when I come back I’ll be hitting the ground running with all kinds of coffee shop stuff. Myself and two other friends are heading to Costa Rica in January 2013 to start our very own coffee shop ministry. We decided on a name and committed to making it happen. Karis Cafe in Costa Rica will be the coolest coffee shop ministry that they’ve ever been it.

The story:
In Romania Sarah Olmstead was telling me about this idea for a coffee shop. She wasn’t exactly sure what to do with it but she needed to share the thought. I told her then that I was in until God shut the door. God has been doing just the opposite. He has flung all sorts of doors open for us to get the ball rolling. Sarah and Tricia, both on my world race, live in Costa Rica currently and the Lord has brought so many connections and people who want to help us right now. The next step is most likely the hardest step. Support Raising. Especially the way jobs have been, so unstable then stable then maybe ok. This is a risk. This could potentially not work. This could also be the best thing we’ve ever done. We’ve examined all the costs actually and came to the conclusion that it’s all worth it for us to follow Jesus.

I get that it’s rough times. I get that money is tight. I get that it is a risk to give. If after reading this, you don’t feel lead to give…that is ok! Do me a favor though, pass this on to a friend. Pray for us. And when the coffee shop is up and running, come down to visit us!
Our budget is 1,000 dollars a month. That’s everything. Covers living; health insurance, food, transportation, rent…EVERYTHING. That means 20 people give 50 bucks; 50 bucks a month! Totally in reason, right? If you think you can do that or know someone who can please go here:
