You can tell a lot about someone from their eyes. You can tell if they are sick, mad, happy, or whatever emotion they may have. My mom would always say she could tell when I was sick by looking in my eyes. Eyes don’t lie. In fact, they are the most honest thing about a person.
When I look in Judy’s eyes I see joy, tiredness, fun, and hardworking. Judy has six kids and a husband that she takes of daily. For the three weeks we are here she is also taking care of us. For those like me who don’t count so well, that’s twenty-six people she meets needs for. This is done daily and hourly. Anytime I tell her she is great for taking care of twenty-six people, she smiles and says ‘it’s ok, no problem.’ What a servant. Judy is also a bracelet maker. She has six daughters who will also know the trade of bracelet making. Her husband is one of the few good men in the area. He works and takes care of his family. Judy is blessed.
Honestly, I just wanted you to know about Judy. She reminds me so much of my Nana. She is fiesty, fun, and hardworking. Though Judy isn’t a grandmother she takes care of me like I know my Nana does. Judy will forever be apart of my life.
I found out yesterday that the bracelets bring in about 200,000 pesos a month. I think that’s about 4,545 US dollars. I just want you to know the money is going to good use. This place is blessed and benefiting the community.
Much love from the islands!
