My favorite movie of all time is Peter Pan the disney version. I mean who doesn’t love that movie!? It paints a fantasy of being young and free forever. Your only mission in life in Neverland is to fight pirates and Captin Hook. Even the crocadile gets a kick out of being in a fantasy and taunting Captin Hook. And not to mention you stinkin’ fly whenever you want…”just think of a happy thought.”

One thing that i realized one time in watching this movie is that even in all the free-ness, there still is someone in charge. The Lost boys answer to Peter. They follow their leader where ever he goes. They look up to him and respect him. Over the past few weeks ive noticed why following the leader is important and what happens when rules aren’t followed. Ive thought about a life without rules. You see without someone setting rules and enforcing them it would be a free for all. Life im sure would not be fun or good in any respect. I see some folks struggle with following rules. They think they know better. And then you have some who just out right want to rebel. Then there are those who are lazy. What ive realized though is that even in a perfect world like living in Neverland one can’t really exist without rules. Rules provide structure and allow a path for consistancy. But we rebel cause how dare someone tell us how to live! Its for our best though, one day we’ll see that.
I think all too often I want to do things our way. I forget that we are to follow the leader…Jesus. I know id like things to work out my way. Sometimes id like to live in Neverland. All throughout the Old Testament and New testament i read stories of the people and how God interacted with them. Times were rough when the people resisted the way the Lord was providing. Sure its difficult at times to really see where or what God is up to but when I let my pride go and stop resisting he makes the path clear. He provides when I least expect it. He clears up to muddy water….
Rest comes when I yeild and trust.
