Last month I was in Romania. I remember this one Sunday my team and Team Tetris had our own church service. We set up a projector, pulled up a sermon by Francis Chan, and found some worship music. Not your typical service but we gathered and worshipped and feasted on the word. During the sermon I had a light bulb go off in my head. One would think that I should have realized this in Africa but to each their own, right? Actually I remember before leaving for the Race my friend Erin told me I would love Africa; that it’s like no other place. I think a piece of me rebelled and didn’t want to love it…sure I liked but I didn’t want to love. Haha! Maybe that’s why I didn’t realize this until Romania.

So the light bulb…I realized why people like overseas countries sometimes more than they like good ole America; people there have something we don’t have. I think we can get it but it takes extra effort. At least in the poorer countries; they have nothing…so their whole lives are based on crying out to God DAILY for bare necessities. Just to say they understand a side of God that not many of us understand. Rich countries/people (ironically, you are rich if you are reading this..no matter what your bank account says) aren’t wrong for being rich. I do think it’s time to re-evaluate our priorities.

I was encouraged by this spoken word. Which, I love spoken word. I think it’s powerful and it’s a gift. Listening to this one I was reminded again on how I represent the Creator here today, right now as I am. That I don’t fall into that gray…lukewarm place…

   Hope you enjoy.
