Hi
Thank you for giving me this time to share what God has been doing in my life lately. I recently got back from a trip to Zambia. Once again, my heart was completely broken for what breaks God’s heart. Upon returning from that trip I realized the passion for missions that God has place on my heart and that, what I experienced in Zambia, is just a small taste of what is to come for me as I continue to trust and follow God.
If you have not heard, I have been accepted by Adventures in Missions for their ‘World Race’ program starting in July 2013. What this means, is that I will be embarking on an 11-month Christian mission trip, through 11 different countries around the world. These countries include; Ireland, Romania, Ukraine, India, Nepal, Mozambique, Swaziland, South Africa, Thailand, Cambodia and Taiwan. I will be joining 60 other young adults and together, we will be serving God through adventure, ministry, community, service and self-discovery.
Although I am very excited, the journey to where I am now has been nearly 8 months in the making. It was not an easy choice for me as it means giving up my current youth ministry that I have grown to love. I am in my third year of senior youth involvement and each week, it remains the highlight as I know that God is doing great things through our young people. However, I also know that when God calls us, God provides and He has provided me the peace and confidence that I prayed for to take the next step in my own walk with Him.
As a ‘World Racer’, I will continue to develop a broken heart that propels my hands and feet to act for God’s Kingdom. While on the race, my team and I will serve, in partnership, with churches and ministries in local communities, while sharing the Gospel. I (We) will help in planting churches, work in orphanages, run days camps and minister to women and children who are trapped in the sex trade. We want to bring the restoration and hope of the Father’s love, too many tribes and nations and I am so grateful for this opportunity that God has given me.
My prayer is that He will do all of this, with your help. Your help is needed in two ways. I am asking for your continual prayer support as I plan, prepare and go on this journey. This is, by far, the greatest need I have. I know the importance of the prayers from people like you, as I cannot do what God is calling me to do, without them.
I also need to raise $15,500 in order to go on the World Race, with the first 'deadline' being middle of April in the amount of $3500. This overall amount of $15, 500 will cover all of my expenses on the field (airplane tickets, lodging, food, supplies etc). You see, if 70 people donate $20 a month for 11 months, I will be fully funded! Every little bit helps! I know I cannot do this alone and I am asking for your help. I’ll be honest, this task seems intimidating, however I know God is always faithful and I know He will meet these needs.
If you would like to be apart of my ministry in another way, please click the Support Me! Link which invites you to share with me financially in this ministry. Donors will receive receipts for their gifts with the understanding that the disbursement of those gifts lies completely at the discretion of Adventures in Missions and that the gifts are non-refundable and non-transferable, per IRS regulations.
*Unfortunately, being Canadian, it isn't possible to receive a tax-deductible receipt, but my hope is that this does not hinder you from supporting me.*
That being said, there are also other ways in which one can support me directly if you would prefer to do it that way. I plan on doing a lot of shopping for gear at MOUNTAIN EQUIPMENT COOP (aka MEC) which is a great store, with high quality gear and a staff that is very knowledgeable. They ALSO have gift cards which are wonderful!
I have already been blessed with the purchase of a sleeping mat and a backpack. However, I am still in need of other gear;
- a 2 person tent
- sleeping bag
- a new day pack
- foot-print (for the bottom of my tent)
- misc items (plastic utensils, water bottle, head lamp, pocket knife etc)
- sleeping bag liner
- small first aid kit
Along with gear…there are things such as travel shots, travel insurance for the year and flight costs to, and from training camp (happening May 18-25 in Atlanta GA) and then a flight to the city where we will be launching from in July. I have MOST of my shots covered from past trips-however there are still a few boosters and at least one other shot that I need to get….both of which are pretty pricey.
I am so excited to see how God will continue to move in my life and in the lives of others in the coming year. I hope not only to be a blessing to those I serve, but also to you. I would be honored to go as your representative to bring Christ Jesus to nations around the world. I want to thank you in advance for your prayers and financial support. May God bless you as you prayerfully consider partnering with me in this ministry.
God Bless!
