My GOD is not dead.

HE is VERY much alive and moving right here.

Right now.

Right at this moment, that you are reading this and breathing.

Each breath you take-is witness to this…

I went for 'coffee' (which was actually cheesecake!) tonight with one of my youth girls.  I tell yah, there is nothing more that I love, then hearing how GOD is moving through the lives of young people.  I know, and realize, that not every one is called to work with youth (or young people) but I am so glad that God has called me to that ministry.

I have been working with/involved in my local church's youth group for 2 full years (and I am in to my third year as a leader) and quite honestly-this is going to be one of the hardest things that I will have to 'give up' for 11 months to go on the World Race.  Quite honestly, I am not looking forward to that part of it and will miss it incredibly each and every Wednesday (that is when youth nights are).

God reminded be again tonight that, as the title suggests, HE is NOT dead and HE is very much alive and moving through the generations.  So often, we 'go into' major trips/experiences like the WR, expecting God to move, to change our lives and those lives around us.  Hear me out on this….I believe that this is a very good thing as we SHOULD NOT put God in a box at all.

However, I have also realized this week-that God is moving right here. Right now.  (Yes I know I already said this a few times, but I want to get my point across).  God is moving through the people that we interact daily with-whether that is our co workers, family, youth, friends or complete strangers.  As exciting as it is,  planning and preparing and fundraising for this race…we must NOT forget about the people around us.  Like I mentioned in my last post, I LOVE my R squad-I really do….but I cannot be so 'overtaken' by it, that I forget about my job, my responsibilities, my family and my youth ministry right here, right now.

There HAS to be a balance.

If that means missing a prayer skype evening for coffee with a youth-so be it.  If that means 'calling' people randomly and having an impromptu prayer meeting-so be it.  There will be a balance.  Tomorrow is not guaranteed.

I asked this youth tonight, despite her rougher week that she just had, where did she see God?  Usually, she is pretty quick to give me an answer or example.  However this time, it took her a while.  As I was helping her by prompting with ideas (ie: through a conversation, strangers, smile etc) she recalled being asked about her faith by a co worker of hers.  She said the question itself did not surprise her, but it was the PERSON  who asked the question-that surprised her.  For lack of better word, it was not a 'church going' individual, but rather someone who may very well be seeking God in their own way.  I believe that God put this girl in their path to shine God's light to this individual and who knows, maybe that small moment-was a key moment in this persons spiritual life?

God does GREAT things.

God does POWERFUL things.

God takes seemingly small and insignificant things….

and makes them HUGE!!!!!

Go out. Impact others. Make a Difference.  Right here. Right now
