My what an adventure Nepal has been so far!
We arrived two weeks ago and have been in Kathmandu this whole time exploring the famous tourist city while awaiting the visa application process for future destinations. Our squad mentor gets to spend the entire month with us! ::yay:: Shortly before arriving here we said goodbye to our alumni team leaders ::boo:: and shortly after we raised up new team leaders and new squad leaders ::yay:: We also received new teams. I am now a part of “The Fellowship of the King” and of course it is a play on Tolkien’s Fellowship of the Ring 🙂
It has been a blessing to be here in a little bit cooler weather though I am noticing the touristy feel of the city hides a good bit of what is really going on here. Leadership pointed out that simply because a city has the comforts of home doesn’t mean there is light there. Neither is an uncomfortable city equivalent to darkness. Sometimes the greatest light can be found in the most “uncomfortable” places and extreme darkness can hide amidst the apathy of a comfortable spot.
We have been privileged to partner with Iris Global to help feed/clothe the homeless and pray over the red light district while being here. They have not been our host with this being an ATL (Ask the Lord) month but was glad to know they could use our help. We also had a chance to support a newly formed fellowship and make a contact for future work opportunities.
I am looking forward to trekking through Nepal with my motley crew fellowship and am excited to spend my birthday with the entire squad. 🙂
