G: Breathe. Settle in your spirit so you can hear mine.
I’m simply standing silently enjoying the breeze wash over my face. It’s pre-storm weather but feels amazing with the wind picking up and leaves rustling.
G: Pair up with someone whom you do not know well and begin prayer walking around the city.
Me: Ok…but now what?
G: Follow my lead.
Group of women who appear to be of Islamic faith walk by and gather together
G: Pray for them.
Me: Ok what’s next?
Continue walking
A couple of ladies are in their vehicle with three children also present
G: Go over, share your name, and ask if they need prayer.
Me: Ok… *feeling a bit out of comfort zone by approaching vehicle here*
For several moments we prayed over these women and children and saw God show up before saying a blessing and departing
Me: Should we continue?
G: Finish the block/circuit
Finished walking the block and prayed as Spirit led over the area and its people
G: See that wasn’t so hard, was it?
Me: Only because you put people in my path whom can lead from their experience and maturity. Help me hear and follow you more clearly.
G: Ok. Refreshing to your spirit as you soak in my presence this day.
The wind continues to blow
Jesus was often interrupted during his ministry plans and it was in those moments where some of the greatest miracles took place. Our plan was to walk and pray for the community and its people while being open to Holy Spirit. We were “interrupted” along the way. In those moments of interruption were chances and opportunities to connect and be a witness/messenger of God’s love to His people.
Are you too busy to stop and do what God is asking of you? Are you afraid of being interrupted? What if you let Him intervene in your day?
“Awaken my soul, come awake
To hunger, to seek, to thirst
Awaken first love, come awake
And do as You did at first
Spirit of the Living God come fall afresh on me
Come wake me from my sleep
Blow through the caverns of my soul
Pour in me to overflow,
to overflow
Spirit come and fill this place
Let Your glory now invade
Spirit come and fill this place
Let Your glory now invade”
