For some reason this caught me by surprise which isn’t the normal response to having applied boldly in faith.
What is it I have been accepted for?
“It’s an 11 month mission trip to 11 different countries,” is how I usually answer that question. However, I am starting to wonder if it is an answer to prayer and a means of pulling out the calling as one of my favorite prophets consistently reminds me. Let me try to help you understand a little more about the World Race!
Here is how Adventures in Missions describes it:
The World Race is a stretching journey to serve “the least of these” while amongst real and raw community. This unique mission trip is a challenging adventure for young adults to abandon worldly possessions and a traditional lifestyle in exchange for an understanding that it’s not about you; it’s about the Kingdom.
For now, I want to give you as much information as I can about what I’ll be doing next year!
Who: World Race is a mission trip organized by Adventures in Missions. Anyone ages 21-35 can apply for World Race. By the time we launch in January, I will have about 25-30 people on my squad.
What: My route is called Expedition. We will serve in the 10/40 Window, an area between 10 degrees and 40 degrees north of the equator. About 4.95 billion people live in this area and most of them are unreached. We will be sharing the hope and love of Jesus in all kinds of ways from teaching and praying to building and playing. I’ve heard that no two days on the Race are the same!
When: My squad will launch in January 2018 and return in November 2018.
Where: Everyone tells me that our route is subject to change, but as of right now, we will be serving in Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Nepal, China, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Spain, and Morocco.
Why: My heart for the outcast grows each year. This is an opportunity to not only reach the outcast but also the unreached!!! When I was looking over routes, this is the one which I came back to over and over again. It will be a very challenging route in all aspects BUT G-D! 🙂
