The JOY in Simplicity continues!

We as a team decided to go yurt camping for a week at beautiful Son-Kul Lake. After the hustle and bustle of Kazakhstan, it was extremely nice to get away out in the beauty of    G-d’s creation and simply be — nothing on the agenda but rest. In my prayer time it became clear this was a chance to refresh, regroup, and refocus not only for me but for the group of us especially knowing we are 3/4 of the way finished with our Race! My desire is to go into the last quarter stronger and more closely connected to Jesus.

I enjoyed being able to go out to the lake and sit on a blanket just my Bible, guitar, Jesus, and me. There were many cows, horses, donkeys, and sheep to share the space too but it made the scenery of the lake, mountains, and plains even better. Back in Australia, the magnificence of the stars at night was breathtaking and Kyrgyzstan didn’t disappoint in this area either for we could simply stare up at the sky hours on end marveling at His handiwork.

The coolest moment for me though was riding horses through the plains. As a kid I was able to do pony/donkey rides, but I have not been able to horseback ride as an adult. You see in the states, most places have weight limits for being able to do adventurous activities and my whole life has been a case of you’re too heavy to do… therefore no horses until now! I may very well still be “too heavy” but out in the middle of vast country landscapes it didn’t matter. Surprisingly, I had to face some fear along with the excitement of riding on a horse for the first time. It was a very cool experience I was able to share with great friends.

Fun fact: I was able to help slaughter a sheep one day that we all ate the next day.

Here are some pics from our time there:
