3 weeks…
This is only 21 days until my first fundraising deadline is due. My faith says it will come in while my head is skeptical. You see if every one of my social media friends would donate $10, I would be nearly funded for the whole trip- $20 would mean fully funded for both the trip and extra expenses. When everyone comes together, a little goes a long way. However, it seems as if there is more resistance to giving this time around as I interact with people to talk about support and partnership.
You see several years back a lot of people when asked could they donate to a mission trip claimed they didn’t have any extra money to donate. I pointed out we all have discretionary funds in our budget we choose how to spend based on our priorities. You see they could have gone without their daily purchased coffee drink for one day and given what they would have spent on it. They could have also said one night this week we will eat in instead of going out and give what we would have spent on dinner. I gave many examples of how just a little bit could go far if they were intentional with their spending habits. In their minds, they thought they had to give a lot or not at all. Actually for several, it suddenly became meddling when I suggested ways to come up with money to give but I have not ever demanded anyone give. I want people to support me, the trip, and the mission because they want to not because they feel guilty or coerced. Conviction however means listen and be obedient 😉
Anywho, this post is merely a reflection on the fundraising process so far. I have raised a bit more than what is reflected here but far from the first goal. I know my Abba owns all the cattle on the hill which means I do too and the money will come forth. I simply need your help to get there. Can you spare any of what G-d has blessed you with to help?
Checks need to be mailed by September 13th to arrive and be processed in time and online donations by September 25th.
