So there is a dream, a desire, in a girls heart for a guy that is going to be her Prince Charming who is going to come rescue her from all her sorrows and all her pain. A guy who is going to fight for her. One who will pursue her even if she resists at first and who will wait for her because he knows without a shadow of a doubt that she is the one for him. That she is what his heart truly desires.
When you think of a love like Noah and Ally had in The Notebook, you can’t even deny that on some level you hope that there can be a relationship out there that could look like that. For myself though, I can’t deny that I also thought that it was impossible to actually have a relationship like that. Probably most of us have. Well, what if I told you I was wrong? What if I told you that a relationship like that is right at your fingertips and is not impossible at all? What if I told you that you can have that right now if you wanted? And what if I told you that you could have that with Jesus, himself?
I read a book not too long ago, called Captivating, that asked you to imagine yourself in a movie where you were the heroine and Jesus was the hero… For example, picturing yourself as Ally and Jesus as Noah…what does your heart do with that? (Or if your a guy, the other way around)
My first reaction… Ummm no that’s awkward. That’s weird. That’s very uncomfortable. He is my dad, my Heavenly Father, not my lover.
Slowly, God has been changing my heart though and is calling me into this season of love with him. Honestly, it’s still weird and kind of awkward to me, but I see him with an outstretched arm to me saying he is waiting for me. I hear him saying, “I will wait for you Nicole, as long as it takes, and I will continue to pursue you as long as it takes.”
There is a place in His heart that only I can fill. There is a place designed just for Him and I. Honestly that place is still hard for me to go to but I find so much comfort in the fact that we have a God who is going to pursue us like Romeo pursued Juliet; like Noah pursued Ally and he’s not gonna give up until we give our heart, our whole heart, to him.
Take comfort, beloved, He is waiting there for you too! You have a special place in His heart that only you can fill. Take comfort, beloved.
