10 Things I Love About You by Ashley Smith
This month we were asked to write blogs about our teammates. This week, I’m writing about Nicole and 10 things I love about her.
- You are GENEROUS. Nicole is the first person to offer up her stockpile of snacks, face wipes, and perfume. She often surprises her teammates with little gifts she found while out on the town. Her generosity spills over into ministry as well as purchasing bibles for people in several of the countries we’ve traveled to this year.
- You have a refreshing SENSE OF HUMOR. Nicole is the person who interjects a jovial comment into a stressful situation lightening the mood. Her humor is never degrading but always makes light of reality and causes those around her to chuckle right along with her.
- You are UNDERSTANDING of food sensitivities. Having dealt with similar food-related issues in the past, Nicole is very understanding of those with food allergies and sensitivities. She is always looking out for her friends who cannot eat foods with certain ingredients. She advocates for people by making sure that the right questions are asked and ingredient labels are checked.
- You are ACCEPTING. Nicole accepts everyone just the way they are. She is approachable and sees each person as an individual.
- You love COFFEE. As a fellow coffee lover, I really appreciate Nicole’s love for java. She is always game to stop at a coffee shop for a caffeinated brew.
- You encourage SELF CARE. Nicole is the queen of self-care. She is the first person to suggest rest or quiet time as the solution to a frazzled teammate.
- You work with EXCELLENCE. Nicole is a self-proclaimed perfectionist when it comes to writing, marketing, and media. I’ve seen her spend hours upon hours working on a project until it is just right. Her latest assignment creating a marketing strategy for our ministry in Romania is no exception.
- You are CREATIVE. Nicole practices creativity in all she does. From coming up with an out of the box solution to designing an Instagram story, putting together an outfit to cropping photos she’s always coming up with something original.
- You are CONFIDENT. Nicole is confident in her identity. Don’t try to change her or tell her who she is because she already knows. She doesn’t let the opinions of others sway her decisions. She’s a unique individual and proud of it.
- You are GROWING. Over the past few months, I’ve seen Nicole grow as she stepped out of her comfort zone sharing the gospel in remote villages in Nepal. Her spiritual growth was most evident in Rwanda as she shared scripture and encouragement with the team almost daily. Here in Romania, I’ve seen her grow in Joy as we build relationships with locals and share with them the love of Jesus.
That’s a wrap. Nicole is a pretty great catch, and I’m thankful to have spent the past five months in a team with her.

C – CAPTIVATING – Nicole you are captivating. You have a captivating brain that draws people into you. You are unique, interesting, and innovative. People want to know what you are doing when you are doing it, and how you are doing it. You will be a leader and a changer.
R- RADIANT – Nicole you are radiant in your beauty and your attitude. People are naturally drawn to you and want to be around you. You carry influence that others don’t have.
E – EMPATHETIC – Nicole you are empathetic towards others. You see a need and you act on it. This has shown many times since we were on a team together. You have provided bibles for people who have never had them, providing clothing and shoes, and invested in a child’s future long term in Ethiopia.
A – AMBITIOUS – Nicole you are ambitious. You have so many goals and know that you will accomplish them all and will take the time to do it. You want to learn, to innovate, to teach. You have real attainable goals.
T – THOUGHTFUL – Nicole you are thoughtful in your life. You think about what you are doing, how you are doing, what impact you are having. You want to do things with purpose and not just to do them.
I – IMPRESSIONABLE – Nicole you have left an impression on me in the last 10 months. In the confidence that you carry and your humor. You see the humor in life and have confidence in what you want to do with your life.
V – VALUED – Nicole you are valued. God values you as you are as you. He expects nothing more from you than the way he made you. He made you perfectly in his image. He has formed your life and personality in the way he wanted it and has amazing things planned for you. More than you could ever imagine, listen to him and go where he is leading you because it will be a wild and exciting ride.
E – EXCITING – You are exciting. Every single day I think you have a new idea. Whether it be for your life, for your blogs, for a project you are working on. Your mind works in such a creative way that it is never done creating.
