After my first mission trip to Rwanda, Africa in high school, I wanted to bring every child home with me. While I physically couldn’t do that, my parents had something better in mind. They made me a sponsor mom to be baby Divine from Rwanda for Christmas that year through World Vision. I was so thankful they wanted to be apart of this journey with me. After sponsoring her for a year, I became the sponsor mom of Isaac from Uganda. I was at a Christian conference when I picked out my baby boy. Its been six years of sponsoring him.

A few years later, my parents were at church when Compassion and their church teamed up to get all the children in Colombia sponsored. My parents took in a little girl that year. We were a sponsor family of three. Want to know the craziest thing? Colombia, Rwanda, and Uganda were all places on my World Race route. I couldn’t visit them on my own but now I know how my kiddos live and where they live. I feel this crazier connection to them because I got to live like them for a month each. God’s plans are bigger.

When my parents visited me for PVT in Ethiopia, we offered to sponsor one of their newer children at Hope Ethiopia. We were then introduced to Lule. He had two fingers on one had, walked on his knees because he had undeveloped legs, but yet he had the biggest heart and best break dance moves at the age of four. We fell in love. We completed our little family. I am so thankful I got to know one of my kiddos personally and spend time with them. There is nothing more special for a family then helping others like this.
