Eye glass clinics are a huge part of the ministry that the MacDonald Family is a part of here in Ukraine. They partner with local eye doctors here in the area, and go on one-day clinics to smaller villages. In an average clinic, they are able to examine 80-100 people each day! They are able to buy eye glasses for about 85 cents each here in Ukraine, which is a lot cheaper and easier than getting them shipped from the states.

They use a standard simple metal frame so that they all look alike and the little old Babushkas don’t fight over designs and styles! It also eliminates the time factor of choosing a frame, so they are able to see more patients in a day.

As a ministry, the MacDonald’s love the clinics because each person who is seen gets one-on-one treatment.

Knowing that this was a free gift to share God’s love seems to touch each heart in a very personal way. Each patient walks away with a new testament and a new pair of glasses.

We are helping people see with new eyes!

We asked people if we could pray over them before they left, and a few were eagerly accepting of our invitation. There was one lady who blatantly looked at us and said in Russian, “what’s the point?” and walked away. I could hear years of hurt and a huge wall up around her heart. Sometimes I’d forget, but there’s still such a huge effect from the Communist reign over this land. Even still, we tilled a lot of spiritual ground this month! I’m very thankful for the time we spent here with the people!

Our team helped with three different eye glass clinics this month!
