Today our team was out in the garden….Side bar:
A lot of times in the garden…. there’s a lot of playing, kids picking on us, and us picking on them. 🙂 Hence, me and my buddy Jimmy, here.
Anyhow… Today our team was out in the garden, doing some more weeding and planting, when we had a chance to talk to another missionary who’s partnering with the Cicrin Orphanage. Roberto, from California, has always had a heart for working with plants and growing things in the garden. He studied at Santa Cruz in their agriculture department and has so much knowledge to offer the people here about how to improve their gardening infrastructure. He’s been coming to Cicrin off and on for about 4 years now, and has finally raised enough support to commit to living here for a year to help them see his techniques actually work.
I’m writing this blog to all of you to remember Roberto in your prayers. You have to remember, the people of Ometepe have been farming for generations, and traditional ways of doing things are not easily changed. He’s told them his plans and ideas to help start new gardening techniques, but they’re not buying into it at this point. It’s honestly going to take them seeing a year of productivity to believe it’s actually any better. It’s not just a garden that they are messing with, it’s their food supply! So, pray that the people will be receptive to the knowledge and understandings of agriculture that Robert has to offer. Pray that God will bless their time together, and that Robert will be a life witness of God’s love and character to the Cicrin family
