My team has safely made it to Antigua, Guatemala!

I left Modesto, CA for Miami Sunday night and met up with the logistics and financial racers on our squad Monday morning.

We flew into Guatemala City then rode in two vans with a few staff members up to Antigua, where we met up with the team leaders and some more staff!

The rest of the squad joined us Tuesday:

REUNITED AND IT FEELS SO GOOOOOOOOOD!
(ya, I’m the team’s jukebox; songs are always running through my head.)

It’s so great to be back with everyone!

The weather is wonderful right now, although it is rainy season so we’ve been in either our rain jackets or just dry heat! I’ll take this over hot-mugginess any day!

Antigua is beautiful. You can see the volcano’s from anywhere in the city. The first few days have been settling in with our squad again and re-focusing our hearts and minds on the mission the Lord has for us here. Trips to the local market, getting used to preparing meals on the budget set for us as a team, having a few more learning sessions, worship time, etc. We took a two day screen fast, so after checking in with our family, we stayed off the computers to really get our spirits in tune with what God is calling us to this year.

It’s so funny to describe how I feel right now! It’s still sinking in this journey has finally started overseas! It feels so right to be here, so natural. Walking the cobblestone roads of Antigua for the first time really made it all reality. I’ve prepared for a year and a half and I’m finally getting my feet wet. It feels like I’m right where I’m supposed to be.

Wednesday: We hiked a volcano! SWEETNESS!

The two hour hike up about killed me, but I made it! It was one of the most beautiful sites of God’s creation I have seen in a really long time! It was a great community experience and a great way for our squad to reconnect. It was also a reminder to me that His creation is a testimony of Him. People are without excuse when He is literally bursting forth from His creation!

Ya…that’s a lot of hotness. 🙂

“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.”  (Romans 1:20)

We also found out what our main ministry contact will be for my team! We’ll be working with a community building a water filtration system! This will include everything from a training process, sifting sand, mixing cement, and a lot of physical labor! We will also be partnering with a dentist and helping with medical treatment! We will begin this on Saturday, and I can’t WAIT to tell you more about it! Be in prayer for the people who we will come in contact with!

I’ve got another blog coming soon…. And it’s God’s heart for Antigua. Stay tuned!!!
