What should you do in a marriage when you realize the “honeymoon is over?” Get alone together and remember why on earth you married the person. J That’s exactly what Team REV 217 did on February 3rd, 2010. I prefaced this blog in my Series of Unfortunate Events blog. Simply; we are in a covenant together for this year. We can’t love the nations any more than we can love each other.
Jess spent a TON of time putting the event together, and it was JUST what we needed.
We began by praying and entering into a time of worship. Jess put together some scriptures and shared her heart about the love of God and what it really means to love. Before we knew it, she had ‘tricked’ us into expressing all the 5 love languages with each other! We spent time writing prophetic words of truth into heart-shaped cards for each other. We also gave back massages and
prayed specifically over one another and then had fun reading about the different love languages and talking about the ways we like to receive love from others. We shared the top things that show that we “aren’t being loved” and shared the top things that really do make us feel loved.
The best part about the night was what God opened up for us all to share on a personal level. My description may make the evening sound pretty cheesy… but it was really a cool time to truly come back to the heart of what love, TRUE GODLY LOVE FOR OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS is all about.
Now… I’m writing this blog on Valentine’s Day, 10 days after the Love Fest actually happened. I can still see the effects of the Love Fest working in each one of us! We’re all choosing to really love one another, and it’s just fun to watch happen. It’s fun to see love and grace and joy flood our relationships in this whole other level.
Our team was also able to share about our experiences with some of the other teams during debrief who were struggling with the same types of issues. This relational ‘funk’ is just what happens once people have lived for a long time in close quarters. You begin to see past the surface… and you get the good, the bad and the ugly. You are faced with whether or not you want to love the whole package. J Come to find out… loving the whole package makes your relationships SO much more amazing.
Well… since it’s Valentine’s Day and all… I might as well share the day’s events. We’re the only team on the squad with a married couple. So… since Brad and Erika gave us sweet Valentines and were off on their romantic Valentine’s Day date night; Jess, Will, and I were on our own.
