Our teams have been in Agbodrapho, Togo now for about a week, and it’s been a very peaceful lifestyle compared to the busy atmosphere of Lome (the Capitol of Togo).
I had previously said in a blog that Teams Jubilee and Logos were coming with our team here, but it ended up only being Team Logos. Team Jubilee decided to go in a different route for ministry this month!
Our two teams have had a blast building a community with one another and establishing relationships with the 16 boys at King Maison’s Boys Home.
It’s a very rural community, but they are very friendly and helpful around town!
We asked what the boys would like help with, and all of them wanted more help with their English!
So, once again we are teaching English classes as well as doing Bible Stories and Devotions with them each day after their regular school. Any type of competitive game goes over amazingly with 16 boys, so we’ve played everything from soccer to ‘steal the bacon’ to ‘soi ninja.’ Between our broken French and their broken English, we’re getting along quite well!
Team dynamics have also been a little different this month. While Brad was with Erika while she was recouping from her unknown sickness in Lome for the first 5 days, I was considered the point person for our team while we were getting settled in Agbodrapho.
I didn’t really expect for that to happen, but I’m excited to roll with it and make the most of it. It’s interesting how quickly your focus switches once you get put into a leadership role: my heart and mind completely shifted from my personal goals and ministry to being about how I can best serve my team.
