I’ve realized today that my life, for the next year, is going to be counted in months.
I am….
1 month away from meeting my teammates at Ignition Training!
2 months away from being home with my family in California!
3 months away from launching on the World Race!
And every month after that will embark on a new country, a new place to serve people in the love of Christ. I’m pumped!
It’s been a wild experience being so ecstatic about this trip and so heartbroken about leaving my life in Indiana. The reality of not coming back to Indiana finally sunk in. It’s not that I’m just leaving for a year, but that I won’t be coming back to the same place! I honestly don’t have a clue where Christ will call me after the World Race, but I have had such a peace about praying His blessings over OCU as I prepare to go. It’s been surreal. The past seven years while I’ve lived in Indiana… throughout college and then working on staff at OCU have been so amazing. God has taught me so much about who I am in Christ, and I’m blessed beyond measure to have so many wonderful people in my life from this experience! All of you OCU/Indiana friends: I love you with all my heart. I will miss you! Let’s make the most of my seven weeks left with you!
August 21st is my big road trip back to Modesto, California. All the stuff I can pile into Lola the Corolla will make the journey with me! Everything else will be left/sold/given away. It will be the first step to downsizing my lifestyle to fit into my 85 liter backpack, haha. I’m beyond excited to have a month with my family and friends in Modesto before I leave for the year! It’s been way TOO long since I’ve seen some of you!
The Lord has been reassuring my heart of the things to come. It’s not that I know what what’s in store. I still feel like I don’t quite have it all together. I’ve felt stuck in-between making the most of my time where I’m at and diving into preparations for the race. I’m still trying to find a healthy balance of the two. On a lighter note, things like, “I need to be getting in shape… but who knows when I’ll get a good piece of strawberry pie again…” also battle my head. J
