Sunday’s are for church, bible study, and when in the states..football.

The first two Sunday’s we had the opportunity to participate in bible study after church in Calama I spent my time in the children’s study rooms (of course).

We sing songs, do a small craft, and spend time learning about the story of Abraham and Sarah.

This week was a little different, and it was a blessing in disguise.

We finished up service and headed to the kitchen for breakfast/lunch per usual. We rejoiced with completos (aka hot dogs with TOMATOES AND GUACAMOLE CAN YOU SAY YAAAAAAAS). After devouring my completo and making friends with sweet Adelina, I asked Pastor Marcos where he would like us to be for bible study.

His response: “colegios”

So we headed back into the kitchen and sat with two of the young ladies from the high school study.

Have you ever thought to yourself as you’re studying something or listening to a podcast/song “This was literally a gift for me”?

That’s the story that I read about today.

DID YOU KNOW?!

That Jacob & Esau REALLY messed up some lineage and order WAY back when?! Well… spoiler alert.. Genesis Chapter 25 & 27.. long story short.. Jacob was a little upset that he was the little bro and made his older bro essentially trade their birthright. So THEN when it was time for Esau to receive his blessing from his Dad, THEIR MOM HELPED JACOB WITH THIS MASTER PLAN SO HE COULD BE THE ONE TO RECEIVE THE BLESSING! Long story short: their Dad found out and we pretty much have an entire page of Jacob trying to be someone who he isn’t because he threw everything all off in the first place!

Here comes the part that I had the opportunity to just listen and translate to my best ability because we are no longer reading from the Bible at this point in the study:

GOD MADE YOU WHO YOU ARE FOR A REASON

Every little intricate detail, every talent, every like and dislike. They are all YOURS because he GIFTED them to you for a purpose. They are to be used and we are not to yearn for other people’s talents, details, likes and dislikes. This is a UNIVERSAL concept because our God is the ultimate. I am on the other side of the equator, listening to this story in a different lesson, and the moral is the same that I would have learned in the states… USE what the Lord gave you and follow his plan, because it is oh so sweet.

And you never know, He could have you drinking chocolate coffee sitting barefoot on the floor of a nursery room feeling the breeze come through the door all of the way in South America on a Sunday afternoon.

Love y’all! – Cole
