Daring Greatly x Brene Brown Ph.D, LMSW

The quote in the above photo is one of the last quotes to catch my attention in the book I have just finished reading, Daring Greatly. The essence of Daring Greatly is how being our most vulnerable selves will transform the way we live. There are so many pieces to vulnerability that are overlooked due to the negative perceptions that occur when we talk about being vulnerable. I am preparing to leave the country for 11 months to meet people and do His works in places where being vulnerable and understanding shame may be my most valuable traits at times.

My story may seem simple on the surface, but can be quite complex. I moved home from my own apartment into my parent’s house in April of 2016. I started attending Crossroads Church in Oswego, IL in the fall of 2016. My relationship with God was JUST at the very beginning. For months while living in my childhood home, I so desperately attempted to find my own place to live. I prayed and prayed and begged God to give me an answer, to let SOMEONE rent out an apartment to me. Until one day, my best friend called from Arizona, and offered a place for me to live in Tempe. I packed everything into a U-Haul, and became a resident of my new home in April of 2017.

One year, one year after surrendering my old life, and leaning in to hear what plans He had for my new one, He opened my eyes to all of the opportunities.

That’s just the beginning. There is so much more that I cannot wait to share not only to my supporters, but to those I will experience life with over the course of the next year.

I do not believe it is chance that right now on my cork board, the only notecard with scripture on it is Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”

But He cannot show me which path to take if I refuse to move.

Goodnight Friends!

Love,

Cole Amy
