BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! PLEASE READ UNTIL THE END!
Wow, it’s month 10 everybody!
10 months ago today we were at launch, had just received news of a route change, and learned that we would be going to Vietnam and Indonesia for our final two months.
As I look back at month 9, I realized how incredibly wild yet beautiful my role is as a disciple and as I continue to serve my squad.
Over the last month I had the opportunity to serve alongside 3 teams in two separate ministries. Let me tell you, L Squad is being used in a LOT of different ways on this race!
I started the month with Team 42 Deep. We served alongside our host Sok Eng at his school Good Seed International. Some of us created relationships with preschool teachers and students, while others created relationships with elementary school teachers and students. We learned bits and pieces of the Khmer language and tried different ways to stay cool in the sticky humidity. We celebrated the Khmer New Year with baby powder fights and a community meal of fish, noodles, and veggies. During the week of vacation at the school, the team worked together to paint different areas of the building that needed some touching up. While the days may have felt long due to the heat, my time with this team was not long enough. We had the opportunity to take advantage of a few free days towards the end of the month and decided to go down to Kep Beach. After getting to explore a different area of Cambodia and making relationships with some locals, (if you ever go to Cambodia, visit Lily’s Kitchen! And tell her Nicole says hello!) it was time for me to head to Kampot!
While in Kampot, I had the opportunity to serve with my fellow Squad Leaders as well as the women of Team R.A.D. and Team Dandy Lions. I soon realized how perfectly fit this host was for this group of racers and how our God is so personal in where He sends us. During the time with their host, Vuthy, these teams were able to create an abundance of relationships with locals of the community, students and teachers alike at their school, and even just a deeper friendship with Vuthy and his family. Mornings were spent walking to the local market to pick up waffles and fruit for the teams. Afternoons were spent visiting homes and having more laughs and smiles than verbal communication (I have learned that communication barriers are nothing more than a barrier, but the Holy Spirit will still move), and evenings were spent painting, teaching, and fellowshipping around the dinner table or on Carl (the bamboo cabana).
What a month. Witnessing my squadmates/teammates/friends serve with their entire hearts to one another and the locals has been one of my favorite parts of this race. The relationships I have created and continued with the people on this squad are just immeasurable.
And the best part? Here comes the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!
THE DOOR HAS OPENED FOR ME TO SERVE A SQUAD AGAIN!
Come this fall, I will be re-packing that big pack, saying my see you laters once again, and going back out with a NEW SQUAD as an Alumni Squad Leader! I will get to serve as an Alumni alongside a few of my current squad-mates as well as some new friends!
I would like to ask you all to join me as I raise funds for this next step that the Lord has called me to! I am looking to raise $8000.00 for this next trip. Your support will help me serve racers as they follow their calling around the world!
