Saturday morning I’ll board a plane for beautiful New York City. I’ve missed it and am so excited to see friends there and be back amongst its hustle and bustle for a few short days before I board my 5:45 p.m. flight to Dublin, Ireland on Tuesday with my squad.
We have received our first month’s assignment. One of the biggest thing AIM (Adventures in Mission, the World Race is a program of AIM in case you’re confused) stresses is expect the unexpected. Anything can change at any given moment. Nothing is ever set in stone. Nevertheless, I was pretty excited to receive some inkling of what our ministry will look like this month.
Oddly, I’ve been given incredible peace from God about not being concerned over details of this year. I’m incredibly detail-oriented. I want to know who, what, when, where, how and why. And I want to know it now. Somehow, when supporters, friends, and especially my parents ask those questions I shrug my shoulders and offer a simple ‘who knows?’ The looks on people’s faces are priceless, I love that. Mainly because those faces were once mine. I have no clue what this year holds and thanks be to God because I’m loving the unexpected…at least as of now.
Enough rambling. We arrive in Dublin and have a week of training with both J squad and K squad (my squad) together. I have no idea what that entails. But I do know I will be camping in this baby:
She’s a beauty isn’t she? I’ve yet to give her a proper name, but you can bet I soon will have endearing names for the most beloved of my inanimate objects.
After training my squad will split up. Beautiful Feet (my team) will be working alongside teams
Joholo,
Goodness.Gracious, and
Petra at
Causeway Coast Vineyard Church in Coleraine, Ireland. We can be doing all sorts of things from helping out with Vacation Bible School, to one of their many outreach programs.
Prayers for travel safety would be much appreciated! I thought this was fitting since I’m Ireland bound, so I leave you with this:
“May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you
In the palm of his hand.”
