We got to go to Greece last week for our adventure days! Each month, we have a few rest + adventure days carved into our schedule by AIM (the organization that’s running this shin-dig). For our time in Romania, we pooled our adventure days at the beginning of the month & decided to venture to Greece! Below is a little more detail on how we got to go!

Before arriving to our ministry site in Draganesti-Olt Romania, our ministry host, Raul, told us “you give me good ministry, I give you good tourism!” He gave us a list of different ideas for potential adventure days including 1. Black Sea and 2. GREECE! So, obviously, we chose Greece! There were two options for accommodation. One was camping, and the other was to stay at a hostel! The price difference wasn’t large, but the whole squad decided to stay at the campground because we knew it would be a lot more fun. If you are a future racer & reading this blog, choose camping!! The campsite is about 80 yards from the water, and you can hear the waves at night!

Our entire squad committed to going, so we woke up at 3AM the next morning, piled in three vans, and off to Greece we went! We traveled to the southern border of Romania, through Bulgaria, and finally into Greece. The drive was around 14 hours long. It was a doozy, but completely worth it! We arrived in Polychrono, Greece at 7PM, set up camp, and headed out for dinner.

We had one beach day, and Raul even provided the opportunity to check out a traditional fishing village! I opted to sit on the beach instead, which was sooooooo worth it! #views

There is cliff jumping within walking distance of the campground and beach!! I’ve jumped off of some massive cliffs before, so now… I’m a chicken.

The next morning we left Greece to head back to Draganesti. We were making good time, until our van broke down in Bulgaria. We had the resources to get the problem solved.. and the break down only put us back around 3 hours! All in all, an awesome adventure day.

If you ever get the opportunity to take a whirlwind trip to Greece, do it!!
