“Your eyes are reflecting
love” was a comment a Bolivian volunteer at Monte Blanco said to me in Spanish the other day. It seems this said 21 year old volunteer has
a bit of a crush on me, but even with his adolescent advances he is apparently very
observant because in Love, I am. In love
with Christ that is!
I’ve felt free and alive; overflowing with sheer bliss. Almost like a kid again and feeling like a kid is a great when
you are the oldest person on your squad. Ironically I’ve also felt more spiritually alive this month than when I was in Ecuador or Peru where we were doing door-to-door evangelism and working with churches (we haven’t even gone to church at all this month). This closeness I feel to God is much needed confirmation that serving and worshiping Him can take many different forms, but should always be done joyfully.
God if this giddy feeling (kind of like what Baby in Dirty Dancing was feeling at Kellerman’s camp) is the work of Christ in me or if I am satisfying and
indulging my selfish desires.
sinful nature, rather serve one another in love”. Gal 5:20.
Attention and adoration from others is certainly
flattering but thankfully in prayer I’ve been reassured my love and affection
for others is not self-seeking, not for my own glory but for the glory of our
Almighty King. With God’s endless love by way of a friendly hug, an extended
conversation, a compassionate prayer, a helping hand, or playful laughter, I
want every person on this planet to experience the joy and hope of our Lord
Jesus Christ and to desire a life lived for Him.
For this reason, I’ve been so
honored to serve and
contribute to the mission at Monte Blanco of proclaiming Christ to South America through training,
equipping, and motivating Christian leaders. After spending time here, these young
Bolivian adults will hopefully be empowered by a dedicated, obedient and
tireless staff, to be bold ambassadors for Christ cultivating communities of
this same self-less Christ like love; communities that will bring glory to our
awesome God.
