This
month we are helping to “Build Families“.
So far we’ve spent our days spreading and leveling huge piles of dirt to
prepare for future yards around new houses recently built by Habitat for
Humanity. The homes will eventually be a
safe haven for Caminul Felix (means Happy Home) families, and the yards will
eventually have grass, and maybe a swing set, and hopefully many children free to
run around and play. While we may never
see these adopted children enjoying their new homes and their new yards, it is
this final phase that motivates us to continue to serve joyfully in the basic
tasks of our mission here in Oradea, Romania.

Working
to support the Caminul Felix motto of building families couldn’t be more appropriate
in a month when my team is serving with two other teams (20 squad mates total).
It has only been one week together but we’ve
all shared 4 months of slowly shoveling away the “dirt” in our lives, and in
the process we’ve built incredibly strong bonds. Our first Sunday here we decided to have
“home church” inclusive of worship, a pod cast sermon, and prayer. Looking around the room my heart was
comforted realizing I have been adopted into a new family, not just for these 11
months but also for life. Today,
tomorrow and long after this race is over I have 50 new brothers and sisters,
who love God, care for and love me, and will always be a part of my life. This
must be how the children of Caminul Felix feel, knowing that they have been
adopted for LIFE into a family who will care for and love them ALWAYS!!
Through
good times and bad FAMILY is our safe haven where we can break down over
brokenness, share sadness, celebrate success, and jump for joy. This Thanksgiving Holiday I am more thankfully
than ever for FAMILY, and while I’d love to be with my family at home I’m
incredibly blessed to be a part of a family “building families” here in Romania
and around the world.
In the spirit of FAMILY, Family Force 6 bonded even more while making this Thanksgiving video. Enjoy!!
