While I was finishing my final year of high school in 2006 I had an extremely vivid dream. When I woke up I remembered the dream, wrote it down and pondered the meaning behind it. Years went by and I set the dream aside, eventually forgetting all about it. At the beginning of this month while I was spending time alone in prayer before my very first outing on Bangla road God brought the dream to mind.
That night I began to understand the meaning behind the dream and as our team worshipped together before leaving that evening I declared it over them. Tonight as I spent time worshipping with 2 new teams who have arrived here at SHE Thailand, our own Real Life team and a YWAM group from Kona Hawaii, God once again brought the dream to mind and told me to declare it over them as well.
As I declared it over them God further clarified the meaning behind it and expanded the vision beyond just the groups who come to minister here at SHE Thailand to all World Racers and then to anyone who has ever dreamed of changing the world. Now I feel like I need to declare this over you and my blog is the best medium I have to do that.
I was standing on the side of this street in my home town watching as the people walked by, passing all of the shops. It was a normal day, not extraordinary, kind of boring. As I watched a group of young people walked onto the street and when they arrived they completely changed the dynamics of the scene. Each one of them was larger than life, vibrant, full of energy and colour. I suddenly became extremely aware of how dull and colourless the rest of the street appeared by contrast.
What struck me more than anything about these people was how in aware they were of the world around them. Their senses were heightened and, in a way that I can’t really describe because they ‘appeared’ normal, they had supersized features. Their eyes were larger, as were their ears and their hands. As they looked down the street I knew that they were not seeing the world the same way that everyone else saw it. They had keener vision, sharper hearing and the ability to reach out and change the lives of the people they touched in a radical way.
These extrodinary people were seeing the way that God sees, beyond surface appearance straight to the heart of the matter. Hidden agendas, lies and insecurities were easily revealed by their sweeping gaze. Their ears were attuned to the sounds of the story within the story. As they listened to casual conversations they heard more then pleasantries, they heard the heart cry burried far beneath them. They also heard the voice of God very acutely and were able to speak precise words of life to those that they listened to. Their sense of touch was effective and as they reached out to people they were able to apply soothing balm to hidden scars and wounded hearts.
They were truly alive and the life that was in them spilled over onto the street. These people were unmistakably contagious. While they walked down the street life poured out of them. They literally were salt and light in a dim and flavourless world.
Those kinds of people, those vibrant, contagious, world shakers are not just needed here in Thailand on Bangla road. That kind of people, with that kind of heart, are needed in every single nation on this planet. I believe that God is calling us to be exactly that kind of person. I declared that over our team as we went out to Bangla road for the first time and then again the other day over the new teams that have arrived here to take our place. And I declare it over you today.
You are called by God to have keen senses. Keen vision, sharp hearing and a sensitivity of touch. You will see what God sees, how God sees it. You will hear what God hears and you will hear what God says about it. You will touch lives the way that God reaches out and touches our lives. You will be so overcome by the love that God has for the people around you, so amazed by the purposes and plans God has set aside for them and so completely in tune to the heart of God that you will not only dream your own dreams you will learn to dream for other people. You will learn to see more in them then they have ever seen in themselves. You will believe in them when no one else does and you will fight for their destinies when they have thrown in the towel.
For lack of a better description you will be like dream catchers. You will become effective at catching the dreams that God has for his children and intentionally speaking, declaring and praying into them.
