I love to watch the discovery channel. When I was younger and living at home my dad and I would watch it together for hours. I have always been in awe of nature and loved watching the little miracles that took place. It just reminds you that every creature here on earth has a purpose and a design to it. You cannot truly look at nature and deny that there was a design in it. You get to see the food change in action, how animals/creatures interact with their own, how animals/creatures interact with other species, etc.

However…I do not appreciate watching this happen in my very own kitchen. This is my home and I would appreciate it if someone would tell the spiders and other little creatures to stay out. I don’t know if this is suppose to be a joke from God and he is just giving me practice in killing spiders or the spiders are just coming in because it is getting colder outside and so the spiders are coming in for warmth. (You’re probably thinking that it is August and its not late enough to get cold, but then you have to remember that I live in Michigan and the weather changes all the time. I common saying here is “If you don’t like the weather now, then just wait 10 minutes and it will change.”)

I guess this is a way to let out my fustration this past week in how many creepy spiders I had to kill. Some early in the morning before work and others before bed. Now to further explain my fustration let me explain…I HATE SPIDERS. I would rather come in contact with a very large snake than with a tiny spider. I can’t fully explain to you my fear with spiders, but I literally scream when I see them…and lately I have been getting very angery at the sight of them. The scariest part however is the killing. I honestly am afraid that as I go in for the kill…the spider is going to turn and attack. It will take a leap and attack no matter how big or small they are. They are fast little suckers. Not only do I scream when I see it, but I also scream when I have to go in for the kill, or when I give the kleenex the final squeeze to make sure that the spider is dead.

Now out of the multiple killings I have experienced this week the one that happened this past Saturday morning was the worst.  I started the morning off earlier than usual because I was going to have lunch with a fellow world racer, Leisa, and then was going to go to a coffee shop to discuss foundraising so I needed to get some things done before I left. As I went into the kitchen that morning to grab a little breakfast I noticed a big black bug on the floor. As I took a closer look I could see that the bug was struggling inside a spider web and that parts that looked like wings were separated and was at a total different spot on the web, however, where was the spider. So I got down on my hands and knees and could see this tiny spider coming in for the attack of the bug. Now I don’t know the type of bug that was trapped in the spider web, but it was a liitle bigger than a grasshopper…on the other hand the spider was the size of a little pesty fly. How this was possible, I have no idea and didn’t take a second taking a shoe to the both of them and topping it off with a squeeze of a kleenex. (Now I wish I would of video tapped it. Since the act it done already you will have to settle for a photo I found off the internet; however, just remember that the spider in this photo is the size of the bug being eaten and the bug is actually the size of the spider. ENJOY!!!!

I keep having to tell myself that these little spider encounters are just little training experiences God is giving me to get me ready for The World Race. I know that we will be living in places, going to the bathroom, and taking showers (getting clean) in locations where spiders will have to be my friend. HELP!!!
