On September 26, 2009 the tropical storm Ketsana flooded the capitol Manila as well as over 25 different provinces in the nearby area in an alarming manner. It claimed over 100 deaths and had displaced over 250,000 people from their homes.

The effects of the flood are still being seen today. The devatsation that has come on peoples lives is heartbreaking and heart wrenching. The flood waters rose ranging from knee deep to over first floor houses. Due to the water levels over 4,000 people had to be rescued. Disease crept in on many of the surrounding areas. People had to choose whether they wanted to risk their health and stay where they were or take a risk and move. Many lives were and still are devastated.

On October 1, 2009 the first of many feedings occurred through the Kid’s International Ministry to many of the affected communities. It has now been over 6 months since the floods and the feedings still continue to this day. How long they will continue I do not know.

This month I have been blessed to have this ministry be my main focus this month.
