As we spent more time in Alice and talking to indig and white fellows across the Northern Territory I started to realize something. And then it was told to us strait by a passionate indig young man. Most of them have heard about Jesus, they've heard the salvation message, but they need the salvation message AND transformation message. There is to much white fellow talking to indig, not partnering, and few indig leading in their communities. And when they are given a Bible it tends to be only the New Testament. There are 2 testaments for a reason, we need the whole word, and there is much in the Old Testament, as tribal people that the indig identify with.
I think it's not that different from the western church. Most people in the west have heard of Jesus, but have not heard of the transformation He brings. Part of the problem is we share the Jesus we know, and if we don't know His power in our lives, we're not gona share that.
So much of what i've seen just reminds me that we are one church. Many of the problems in the indig church are the same as the problems in the western church. And when one part of the body suffers the whole body suffers [1 Cor 12].
And even thought I've been writing about the western and indig church, there is only one church, one body.
peace an love b'ys!
