Hey b'ys this blog shoula been posted ages ago, I wrote it in the middle of December, but the interet isn't working on my compy an lots of other excuses, haha. I've decided to leave the blog largely as it was written so the tense I'm usin will not always make sense.
After team changes teams headed outa Phnom Penh to wherever their ministry is. My team is in Phnom Penh this month, so we took a 20 minute tuk-tuk ride -a moto with a little carriage/sleigh type thing that it pulls behind it- to another part of the city. We're working with a Wesleyan church teaching English an helpin at the church. We teach Monday to Friday from 3:30-7:30; 4 classes each an hour long. The first one is the smallest class, an is called Bible class. We teach the the students 5 new vocab words, what they mean, how to say them, and then they have to write them in a sentence. We then read over a chapter of Scripture from Acts, they pick out the words they don't understand, an we explain them, then they read it to us. The second class is a conversation class, then level 1, which is the largest, and end with level 3. 2 people teach each day and we rotate teachers.
As a team we start the day with a devotion at 7:30 [we each have a day we're responsible for, I'm Thursday], an head over to the church for 8. Then we paint! B'ys are painting a mural in the classroom downstairs, an we paint the outside walls of the church, doors, an rails.
The 2 who are teachin only paint for 2 hours, an then go back an lesson plan. The rest stay 6hrs an paint. Saturday is our day off. Sunday we teach Sunday School an then help out with the church service. In the evenin we do youth group, which is a lot of dodgeball, other games an some teachin.
We had a Christmas party for them, an our last Sunday will be a Christmas service. The youth are doin a Christmas play an we're to singin 2 songs with them at the end. They know Our God [is greater] in Khmer an English, an love it, so we're doin that, an Silent Night.
We're goin to Siem Reap for Christmas to be with some of the other teams an will get to go to Angkor Wat!! We're headin out for India on 28 December, where we will have debrief!
