When we came back from Alice we had a few days at 'home' and off again to Darwin where we spent a few days with an amazing family, and a young man who seek the Lord in all they do. While we were there we went on a prayer walk of the city. Before we headed out we prayed that God would lead us and show us where He wanted us to go, who talk to, etc. We went into downtown Darwin, and prayed over the Parliament building. One of the girls felt lead to go inside and see if they could pray for people. Although they didn't get to pray for anyone they got 3 contacts. Then we talked to an elderly gentleman, and hopefully our friends here will be able to go to the old folks home he lives at. We went out in the evening to a community where we had a bbq, played with the kids, talked with the people, just building relationships. I got to talk to an indig lady who has known and walked faithfully with the Lord for a long time. She was there from another community visiting family and was really desiring fellowship. She was very encouraging to talk to. She desires not to be judgemental and extends grace, she has such faith in God, and just seeks to follow and grow in Him, she loves studying the Bible and receiving teaching. As a side note the family cooked us full breakfast for supper one night, and it was amazing.
Back in Wagait Beach we spend the mornings doing whatever we can to help at our contacts, from cleaning to physical labour. We are again learning that working for the Kingdom looks many different ways. Its great seeing the different ways we work and strengths we have. Some of us spent the other morning [pronounced marnin haha] moving a water tank, probably my favourite job so far! We have the afternoon off, as it's so hot [+40!!!!!], and we normally we go for a swim, and try to find some shade and a fan haha. Then in the evening we head over to Belyuen, the community near their house, and play with the kids, talk to people, fellowship, and prayer walk.
In the Northern Territory alone there are over 250 languages because of all the different indigenous groups; each group is distinct not only in language but customs and traditions, culture. Each community we have gone into has had a different atmosphere, culturally, and spiritually. In Belyuen people are receptive to prayer and will tell you what they want prayer for and ask you to pray for them. A large part of this is probably due to the work that our contacts do there, they've been working there for over a decade now. It's amazing to see how our contacts and our friends in Darwin serve, it's so natural, and they are so full of and lead by the Holy Spirit.
One of my problems this month has been understanding how God wants to use me. Some of the people I'm meeting I'll only meet the once, others I'll know for a week or two. So am I supposed to build relationship just to peace out? But could it be that I'm just a piece, however big or small, and I just have to listen to God, however that looks, and love individuals, and God will use that. I let little lies like what's the point, and worry that we won't be able to understand each other slow me down. But when I do God's work He provides. Matthew 6:33, seek the Kingdom and His righteousness, and the rest will follow! We don't get to pick what type of soil we sew on [Matthew 13], we just sew. peace (:
