- I did all my bathing, laundry, dish washing, and fetched my drinking water out of Lake Malawi
- I taught women the value of starting their own businesses while simultaneously starting my own project to help give back
- I bargain traded more than half of my belongings to local vendors for souvenirs I probably don’t need (aka serving spoons and salt & pepper shakers)
- I may or may not have a weird parasite growing inside me thanks to all my activities in the lake
- I got my hair braided and looked like James Franco from the movie, “Spring breakers” for a week… LOL
- I walked down a “shortcut snake path” that had possible Cobras and Black mambas hanging out, just to save myself 5 minutes each time I walked to the market
- I was crammed in a 9 passenger mini bus with 20 African men, 6 chickens and my dear teammates each time we needed to get places
- I learned how to cook nsima, the local maize dish, with the village women who laughed at me every time I attempted to do any of the steps
- I taught pre-school for nearly 100 kids, ages ranging anywhere from 3 for 7 in one classroom with no chairs or tables
- I watched Bald Eagles hunt for fish less than 50 feet away from my boat while on Lake Malawi
- I was adventurous and tried Antelope for the first time… I can tell you one thing, I was happy it wasn’t those baby fish they tried feeding me whole all month!
