November was the beautiful and colorful month were I lived in India surrounded by hot spices, cold showers, rice and more rise, and above all surrounded by beautiful gorgeous kids. This month I was part of Sarah Covenant Home, where I help taking cared of orphans that were neglected in their orphanages in India, and in this new home they receive care and love. Here is where on the first day there, I met one of the kids that I fell in love with. His name is Zack and officially he is the guy with the most beautiful toothless smile in the whole world (now filled with teeth).
Noviembre fue el hermoso y colorido mes en el que viví en India rodeada de especias, duchas frías, arroz y mas arroz, pero sobretodo rodeada de hermosos niños. Este mes estuve trabajando con la organización Sarah Covenants Home, aquí ayude cuidando de los huérfanos que no fueron atendidos adecuadamente por la gran cantidad de huérfanos en India y en este nuevo hogar ellos reciben cuidado y amor. Aquí es donde conocí a Zack y oficialmente el es el niño con la sonrisa mella mas hermosa que haya visto (ahora mismo llena de hermosos dientes).
When I met him he was lying on a couch with his head resting on a side because to of his hydrocephalus condition he couldn’t sustain it. With his big eyes he would stare at my and I would stare back. Suddenly he gave me for the first time his beautiful smile out of nowhere. That’s all I needed to fell in love with him. After that I spent almost every morning worshiping and reading the bible to him. Every time I came into his room just by the sound of my voice calling his name he would light up like a firework.
Cuando lo conocí el estaba recostado en un sofá con su cabecita el brazo del asiento ya que por la condición de hidrocefalia el no podía sostenerla. Con sus grandes ojos el mantenía su mirada en mi y yo la mía en el. De repente el me regalo por primera vez su hermosa sonrisa de la nada. Eso es todo lo que yo necesitaba para enamorarme de el. Luego de eso pase cada mañana adorando y leyendo la biblia con el. Cada vez que entraba a su cuarto y lo llamaba por su nombre, su rostro se iluminaba como fuegos artificiales.
That month I behaved li a mother. Every time he was sick I would annoy the nurses to check him and give the medicine on time (with so many kids is hard sometimes). So is more than evident that was really hard to leave this place. I still think about the kids, I think about them every day and I hope that never changes. But thinking and praying sometimes is not enough.
Ese mes me comporte como una madre. Cada vez que estaba enfermo yo iba a molestar a las enfermeras para que lo verificaran y le dieran la medicina a tiempo (con tantos niños en el hogar esta tarea es difícil a veces). Así que, es mas que evidente que fue bastante difícil el dejar este lugar. Todavía pienso en los niños, pienso en ellos todos los días y espero que eso nunca cambie. Pero el pensar en ellos y orar a veces no es suficiente.
Two weeks ago I started to receive SCH newsletter and there I notice that Zack needs to have surgery and as a consequence he needs the money for it. All the treatments and medical care are possible through all the funds raised by the organization (SCH). Zack need a surgery in his spinal cord. Because he was born with spinal bifida, he developed a syndrome called Tethered Spinal Cord, where the spinal cord becomes attached to the spinal column via surrounding structures.
Dos semanas atrás comencé a recibir la carta de noticias de SCH y ahí note que Zack necesita una cirugía y como consecuencia los fondos para pagarla. Todos los tratamientos y cuidados medico son posibles debido al levantamiento de fondos hecho por la organización. Zack necesita una cirugía en su cordón espinal. Debido a que Zack nación con espina bífida desarrollo un síndrome llamado Tetheredd Spinal Cord, donde el cordon espinal esta adherido a tejidos y estructuras de alrededor del cordón espinal.
A child with tethered spinal cord syndrome may face a number of difficulties, including:
- Back pain
- Leg pain
- Weakness or numbness in the legs or feet
- Difficulty standing or walking
- Fecal and/or urinary incontinence
Un niño con el síndrome Tethered Spinal Cord puede enfrentar un sin numero de dificultades incluyendo:
- Dolor de espalda
- Dolor de pierna
- Debilidad y entumecimiento de la pierna o pie
- Dificultad para ponerse de pie y/o caminar
- Incontinencia fecal y/o urinaria
After the diagnosis the plan was to make the surgery ASAP, but then they discovered that Zack has a rare blood disorder and they to make more test so they can determine a more specific type of blood (at least that was what the doctor said). So Zack needs more funds to make all these blood tests plus the surgery.
In total everything might cost $3,000.
Luego del su diagnostico el plan era llevar a cabo la cirugía lo mas pronto posible, pero entonces descubrieron que Zack tiene un desorden sanguíneo y se necesita llevar a cabo mas pruebas para poder determinar un tipo mas especifico de sangre ( al menos eso fue lo que explico el doctor). Así que Zack necesita los fondos para llevar a cabo todos estos estudios mas la cirugía.
En total puede que lo que se necesite son $3,000.
