Transnistria an unexpected month

I didn’t know about this place until two weeks ago, which made me think of the verse that says “God is able to do far more than we could ever ask for or imagine” – Ephesians 3:20. God has brought me to a place I didn’t know existed and I can’t be more grateful about it. This is a country that is not recognized by the United Nations, but it is definitely a place where God is working. Two teams are working together this month, team unity 31 (mine) and team Ru-ah (that’s another unexpected thing). Anyways, I know you want to know about this place so let’s begin

Facts about Transnistria that I’ve learned so far:

  • Official Language: Russian
  • Currency: Transnistrian rubles (If you exchanged money try to use it all since you won’t be able to exchanged back, also it can be a good souvenir)
  • People have more than one citizenship because with the Trannistian citizenship you can’t go anywhere, so you can see people with Russian, Bulgarian, Romanian, Moldovan citizenships.
  • This county is right on the border of the Ukraine.

  • The church is persecuted from time to time. The situation with Ukraine and Russia is a blessing for the church right now because the KGB and police are focused on that. When this conflict finishes and peace comes back, the attention is going to go back to the church.

So this month, we are working with a church that has seen a lot. They have suffered persecution, but when they worship, when the old people jump out of joy and the youth extend their arms to the living God all you can do is stare and cry in happiness . We are here serving God’s body, weeding, helping in construction, teaching English, and being baby sitters. We are here to bless the church and I can’t be more grateful.

God knows all the desires of our hearts, and since I was a teenager, I remember reading all persecuted church stories. I day dreamed and prayed about things like this. And here I am, I’m not being persecuted but I’m learning from them. I am blessing them but they are blessing me more than they can imagine.

So, beautiful people, friends and family help me to pray for Tranistria, the church here and all the persecuted church in the world.
